That was Eastercon that was
Damn that was good. Suffering PCB* now, and struggle a bit with reality. I may still be drunk.
Thursday - Checked in the night before kick-off, and met up with
ksimes and we hit the pre-con buffet laid on by the hotel. Can I say at this point the hotel was absolutely stunning.
Friday, woke up at 5.30 am. I had an alarm call for 7.00 am, but
dyllanne's pocket decided to phone me at 5.30, and I couldn't get back to sleep. After breakie, it was time to register, and get on with things.
In no particular order (it's a bit of a blur), things included finding Bryan Talbot in the dealers room, going online to cancell my Amazon order for Heart of Empire, buying it in the dealers room and getting Bryan to sign it. He also did a Luther Arkwright sketch inside the cover for me. Seriously cool. A fan face WAS pulled.
I bumped into China Mieville in the lift, he apologised for only going one floor, and I gushed about Iron Council and the awesomeness of it. He was cool, I was a gimp.
The Satellite 2 table in the dealers room was up and running and memberships were taken for that and Albacon 2010, so do the decent thing and sign up for both.
There was an official signing session for the GoH and 40 mins after the doors opened, they stopped letting people in as they coun't get everyone through in the time allocated, so after the Lovecraft panel, I managed to snag China Mieville for a photo. Another fan face moment.
Later, there was another signing session that I got the impression was only Neil Gaiman. So I trotted along with Smoke and Mirrors to get signed only to find all the GoH there. I got Tanith, Charlie and China to sign a con poster, and got Neil to sign my book. Then with three minutes to spare, raced to my room grabbed Iron Sunrise and Iron Council, and made it back to the room with a minute to spare and got Charlie and China to sign the books.
Then there was Neil's GoH talk, China's GoH talk, there was beer, there was the Masquerade, the art auction (I've now got Dragon Isles by Lisa Konrad and very nice it is too), the dealers room, and loads of stuff to numerous to mention.
So, back at home back at work and still a bit spaced out by it all. I have signed up for Odessey 2010 in the same hotel, and it might be wishing my life away, but I'm looking forward to it.
